Our Story
For fifteen years, we sold clothing wholesale.
Now it's your turn.
First of all, thank you for being here. If you've made it to this page, it's because you want to know who we are — and we think you deserve the whole story, properly told.
We're a family business. For fifteen years we've been supplying clothing for other labels: our job has always been to find the piece, make sure it's well made, and get it to the brands that go on to sell it in their stores and on their websites.
We still do that, and we always will. It's what we've built our living on and it's what we know how to do.
The only thing that's changed is that now, on top of that, you can buy it directly here. Without it having to pass through anyone else.
Who we are
Charlotte Toronto is a father, a mother and two children, along with the team we've built along the way.
If you've never heard our name, there's nothing strange about that: for fifteen years we never sold a single thing to a person. Only to companies.
Our name wasn't on the label.
It was on the invoice.
We've been doing this for half a lifetime — long before online stores existed.
Why we opened
Charlotte is our mother. The name comes from her.
For years we watched her get dressed every morning, never really happy with what she saw in the mirror. Not because she lacked taste — she has more of it than all of us. Because at some point the stores had stopped thinking about her. Past forty, the choices got fewer, flatter, duller. As if beauty were something you age out of, instead of something you grow into.
And the same thing was happening to almost every woman we knew.
We had a warehouse full of pieces we were choosing for everyone else. So we asked ourselves the simplest question: why not open for her? For the woman who already knows exactly who she is, and who deserves the same care and the same beautiful design she had at twenty-five. Maybe more.
That's how Charlotte Toronto began. She chooses the pieces herself, one by one: picks it up, holds it to the light, feels it between two fingers and says yes or no. Takes her three seconds. And she's never wrong.
Why the same piece costs less here
It isn't a lesser piece. It's the same one, and it comes from the same place.
When you buy it in a store, you're paying for a lot of things besides the garment: the middleman, the freight, the rent on the space, the staff, the payroll, the ad campaign and the name on the label. All of that genuinely costs money, and whoever pays it has to earn it back somehow. That's entirely fair.
Put simply: of what you pay in a shop window, only part of it is the garment. Everything else is what surrounds it.
Here, that chain doesn't exist. The same piece that costs twice as much with a label on it costs what's on our own tag: in our boutique and online, the same price.
You're not paying for the brand.
You're paying for the piece.
We already know what you're thinking
“If it's this cheap, there must be a catch.”
It's the right question, and we get asked it every day. The answer is boring: we already have the garment. There's no supplier selling to us, no importer reselling to us, and no label putting its name and its margin on top. We don't pay anyone to appear in a photo, and between us and you there's nobody taking a cut.
That's the whole trick. There isn't anything else.
And if you'd rather, you can find us in person
We're not a website that appeared last month and disappears next month. We really do have a boutique, with our own sign above the door, and there's always one of us behind the counter.
In the boutique and online, the price is the same. The boutique is simply the place where, if you feel like it, you can see the fabrics with your own eyes and feel them with your own hands before you decide.
If you stop by, ask for the family. We'll be there.
How we work, and what happens when you order
We work in seasons, like everyone else. When the labels ask us for their collection, we prepare ours at the same time. They're the same pieces you'll see on other websites: the difference is the label and the price. They go on selling theirs, we sell ours, and that suits everybody fine.
When the new season arrives, we make room: whatever came before goes out at a reduced price. Not because there's anything wrong with it, but because that's how a wardrobe works. When we're running a sale you'll see it clearly on the site — those are the moments worth paying attention to.
When you place an order it arrives with tracking, so you can see where it is at any moment. If anything comes up, you write to us and we answer you ourselves: hello@wearcharlottetoronto.com
You have thirty days to send it back.
If the size isn't yours, or the piece simply doesn't convince you once you're holding it. We give you a full thirty days, because a couple of weeks feels far too short to work out whether a piece is really yours.
Thank you for reading this far.
We hope you love our pieces as much as we do.
