Our story
For fifteen years, we sold clothes wholesale.
Now it's your turn.
First of all, thank you for being here. If you've made it to this page, it's because you want to know who we are, and we think it's only fair to tell you properly, and calmly.
We are a family business. For fifteen years, we have been exporting clothing for other brands: our job has always been to find the garment, check that it's well-made, and deliver it to the brands that then sell it in their stores and on their websites.
We continue to do this, and we will continue to do so. It's how we've always made our living, and it's what we know how to do.
The only thing that has changed is that now, additionally, you can buy directly from us here. Without it having to go through anyone else.
Who we are
Vera Montelli is a father, a mother, and two children, along with the team we've built along the way.
If you've never heard our name, there's nothing strange about it: for fifteen years, we haven't sold anything to an individual. Only to companies.
Our name wasn't on the label.
It was on the invoice.
We've been doing this job for half our lives, long before online stores existed.
Why we opened
Vera is our mother. Montelli is our family. The name comes from there.
For years, we watched her get dressed every morning, never truly happy with what she saw in the mirror. Not because she lacked taste: she has more than all of us. But because at some point, stores had stopped thinking about her. After forty, the choices became fewer, flatter, more subdued. As if beauty was something you grow out of with age, instead of something you grow into.
And the same thing was happening to almost all the women we knew.
We had a warehouse full of garments we selected for others. So we asked ourselves the simplest question: why not open for her? For the woman who already knows who she is, and who deserves the same care and beautiful design she had at twenty-five. Perhaps even more.
That's how Vera Montelli was born. She chooses the garments herself, one by one: she picks it up, holds it up to the light, feels it between two fingers, and says yes or no. It takes her three seconds. And she never makes a mistake.
Why the same garment costs less here
It's not an inferior garment. It's the same, and it comes from the same place.
When you buy it in a store, you're paying for many things besides the dress: the intermediary, transport, rent for the premises, staff, contributions, advertising campaigns, and the name on the label. All of this really costs money, and whoever pays for it needs to recoup it somehow. That's perfectly legitimate.
Simply put: of what you pay in the shop window, only a part is the garment itself. Everything else is what surrounds it.
Here, that chain doesn't exist. The same garment that costs twice as much with a brand's label, costs our tag price here: the same in our boutique and online.
You don't pay for the brand.
You pay for the garment.
We already know what you're thinking
«If it costs so little, there must be a catch.»
That's a fair question, and we get asked it every day. The answer is boring: we have the garment ourselves. There's no supplier selling to us, an importer reselling to us, and a brand putting its name and margin on top. We don't pay anyone to appear in a photo, and there's no one between us and you taking a percentage.
That's the whole trick. There's nothing else to it.
And if you wish, you can also find us in person
We're not some website that popped up last month and will be gone next month. We actually have a boutique, with our sign above the door, and there's always one of us behind the counter.
The price is the same in the boutique and online. The boutique is simply the place where, if you like, you can see the fabrics with your own eyes and try them on with your own hands before deciding.
If you're passing by, ask for the Montelli family. We'll be there.
How we work, and what happens when you order
We work by seasons, like everyone else. When brands ask us for their collection, we prepare ours at the same time. These are the same garments you'll see on other websites: the difference is the label and the price. They continue to sell theirs, we sell ours, and that's perfectly fine.
When the new season arrives, we make room: what was there before goes on sale at a reduced price. Not because there's anything wrong with it, but because that's how a wardrobe rotates. When we have sales, you'll see it clearly on the website: these are times worth paying attention to.
When you place an order, it comes with tracking, and you can see where it is at all times. If anything happens, you write to us, and we'll reply: ciao@veramontelli.com
You have thirty days to return it.
If the size isn't yours, or if you simply aren't convinced by the garment when you hold it. By law, it would be fourteen days: we give you sixteen extra, because fourteen days seems too short to truly understand if a garment is yours.
Thank you for reading this far.
We hope you like our garments as much as we do.
